Tuesday, May 2, 2023PRESS RELEASE: Barricaded Subject Incident Resolved Without Incident
On May 1, 2023, at approximately 7:02 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 1300 block of Shady Lane for a report of a domestic violence call for service. Officers met with the female victim who reported her 29-year-old ex-boyfriend, Golden Duwane Dupree, had been staying at her residence temporarily after the two had been estranged for a period of time. The victim reported Dupree physically and verbally abused her and their juvenile son. Dupree, the victim, and their child left the apartment to get food at a local restaurant. While outside the apartment, Dupree made additional threats to the victim. Officers met with the victim and were unsuccessful in getting Dupree to cooperate. The victim and child went to a safe location, Dupree refused to come out of the apartment, and officer pursued charges against him.On May 2, 2023, Turlock Police responded to the Shady Lane apartment complex after receiving information Dupree was damaging property inside. Based on information from the incident the prior evening, and new information developed today, officers surrounded the apartment and were able to negotiate with Dupree until he ultimately surrendered.
Dupree was arrested and booked for stalking and making criminal threats, which stemmed from a prior domestic violence incident in March 2023. He is also facing charges of felony domestic violence, brandishing a firearm, felony child cruelty and battery causing serious bodily injury.
Lieutenant Russell Holeman said, “Our staff is dedicated to providing for the safety of our residents, holding criminals accountable, and seeking justice for all victims. The police department would like to thank any affected or displaced residents for their patience as we worked to ensure the safety of all involved in this incident.”
